About the Opportunity
The OKX Central Risk function is responsible for overall risk management covering market risk and liquidity risk, counterparty credit risk, enterprise risk and operational risk, fraud risk etc including model risk management and model validation. We’re deeply committed to the top risk standards of the crypto industry, protecting the company from financial, regulatory and reputational risks. Our team consists of seasoned risk professionals who are based across our global offices.
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Global Head of Web3 Risk to join our team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the risks associated with Web3 products and services, with a particular focus on regulatory, operational, and product risks. As the Web3 space continues to evolve, we need a proactive risk leader who can navigate complex challenges, ensure compliance with global regulations, and mitigate operational and product risks tied to our decentralized and blockchain-based solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Regulatory Risk Management: Stay ahead of regulatory trends and changes impacting Web3 services. Assess and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations across different jurisdictions for our Web3 products, including smart contracts, decentralized finance (DeFi), and NFTs.
- Operational Risk Oversight: Identify and address risks related to the execution of our Web3 products and services, including operational inefficiencies, security vulnerabilities, and scalability challenges.
- Product Risk Analysis: Collaborate closely with product teams to analyze and mitigate risks in the development and deployment of Web3 technologies, ensuring robust security, performance, and functionality for all users.
- Risk Framework Development: Develop and implement comprehensive risk management frameworks specific to Web3, ensuring a balanced approach to security, compliance, fraud prevention, and market volatility.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with various internal teams, including product, legal, engineering, and compliance, to ensure that risk is embedded across all stages of product development and lifecycle management.
- Risk Reporting and Documentation: Provide regular updates and detailed risk assessments to senior management, along with actionable recommendations for mitigation strategies and risk reduction.
- Industry Insights and Best Practices: Stay informed on the latest advancements and regulatory changes in Web3 and blockchain technologies, ensuring that the company's risk management processes evolve accordingly.
What We Look For In You
- Minimum 10 years of experience in financial services, with a deep understanding of risk management, compliance, and financial regulations.
- At least 5 years of experience in crypto-native, DeFi, or blockchain technology environments, with a comprehensive understanding of Web3 products, decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, and blockchain ecosystems.
- Strong technical knowledge of Web3 technologies, including blockchain, smart contracts, decentralized applications, and tokenomics.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory environments impacting Web3 services (e.g., AML/KYC, data privacy, securities laws) and the ability to interpret and apply them in a rapidly changing landscape.
- Proven track record of identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational, product, and regulatory risks in fast-paced, innovative environments.
- Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for identifying emerging risks.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and influence stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Law, Computer Science). Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
