As a Staff Engineer, you are a senior individual contributor who combines deep technical expertise with broad influence across teams. You lead by example—guiding implementation decisions, mentoring engineers and Tech Leads, and shaping engineering practices that make our systems more secure, resilient, and maintainable.
You’ll work hands-on to solve high-impact problems and partner with Tech Leads, Architects, Product, Security, and Platform teams to improve system scalability, performance, and developer experience. You’ll also contribute to evolving our engineering principles and long-term technical strategy.
Your main responsibilities: • Design and implement secure, scalable backend systems in collaboration with cross-functional teams. • Build and promote reusable libraries, design patterns, and engineering standards that drive consistency and quality. • Mentor engineers and Tech Leads on system design, performance, and secure-by-default practices. • Guide technical decisions and trade-offs across domains to improve maintainability and delivery speed. • Champion observability, testability, and operational resilience throughout the development lifecycle. • Review and contribute to RFCs, design docs, and decision records to align teams and drive clarity. • Partner with Platform and Engineering leadership to improve CI/CD, developer tooling, and system reliability. • Support incident response and lead root cause analysis to drive systemic improvements. • Explore and pilot emerging technologies that enhance performance and developer experience.
Experience designing complex backend systems in regulated or high-trust environments.
Strong grasp of system performance, observability, and secure software development.
Background in incident management and building resilient, fault-tolerant systems.
Proven mentorship and cross-team influence on technical decisions.
Collaboration skills across product, platform, architecture, and security roles.
Familiarity with modern engineering practices: CI/CD, IaC (Terraform), Kubernetes, AWS.
Expertise in Java (Quarkus) or NodeJS (NestJS), with willingness to learn the other.
